Find the car to suit your lifestyle. The Lifestyle Configurator from Mercedes-Benz is the first step toward a completely new form of dialogue between brand and user. The excellent design quality of this innovative customer experience has now been recognised with two awards.
This year the 26-member jury of international industry experts selected the Lifestyle Configurator as the winner of the prestigious Red Dot Award: Communication Design in the ‘Online’ and ‘Interface Design’ categories. The project also received the ‘Red Dot Award: Best of the Best’ distinction in the E-Commerce category for its outstanding design – a category in which only 0.8% of the projects made the cut and fully in the spirit of the Mercedes-Benz credo: ‘The best or nothing’. The awards ceremony will be held on 4 November 2016 as part of the Red Dot Gala at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
At the international design competition for automotive brands back in July, the Lifestyle Configurator won the Automotive Brand Contest in the ‘Best of the Best: Digital’ category. This prize is highly regarded in industry circles and has been awarded by the German Design Council for over 60 years. This year, the awards will be presented in Paris on 29 September 2016 at the Mondial de l’Automobile, one of the top international automobile exhibitions.
A car that suits its driver
We developed the Lifestyle Configurator in close cooperation with strategy consultancy Berylls and the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems. Instead of the usual technical details such as engine power and design, the user chooses from individual categories such as travel, sport, art, etc. Mercedes-Benz is the first automobile manufacturer to offer vehicles that are individually configured to the driver’s specific lifestyle. We are currently working on a mobile version and planning to roll out this award-winning project in other markets as well.
